Hey all, thanks for letting me join this fine group. My first question is Are we playing 3.0 or 3.5? The character sheets are 3.0 but I've see references to 3.5 around so... No 2 do these games ever wind up in the chatroom, or is it strictly email? Does anyone have or know of an errata for WoT? I've lookked at WotC but they seem to have trashed when they dumped the WoT line
Thanks folks, GRed |

The horses listed are Regular unless they specify war. The posts are neither email or chatroom based, but sometimes a GM will go into chat with a player to facilitate roll play between characters or npcs.
We are technically running a 3.0 system because WoT was published and lost its liscense before 3.5; however, we have adopted several 3.5 rules like trashing the ambidexterity feat in favor of the more inclusive updated two weapon fighting feat. Heroic surge is available. I don't have my book with me, I think it has a prerequisit of a certain level, but I may be mistaken. Saddle has little effect on what horse you have; however some saddles make more sense for certain horses. There are errata for WoT but they are unofficial and published by a private person. The only rule from that that comes to mind is that the channeling prestige classes do not require sense residue as a prerequisit as it is a rare feat even among channelers. Hope that helps |

Thanks for the quick response!
The reason I asked about horses from a discussion with a friend yesterday I had thought that they were regular he thought they were war after all the Borderlanders number quite a few calvary. Now thw reason I made the remark about saddles indicating something is that the heavy horse comes with a war kak. See where I'm coming from? Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse (I couldn't resist) just want to be clear on it. GRed |

I'd guess that the reason it's a regular horse is that a 1st level character isn't experienced enough to be a member of the standard army (Borderlanders likely are higher level troops on average than in other countries), so they wouldn't be given a war-trained steed. Just a guess.

either that or the training for one requires quite a bit more money, or the horses are worth a bit more. Look at Lan's warhorse. He was more than any 1st level character would be expected to have. The exception would be Nobles of course (but they have more starting wealth and can trade)
Remember, you can always sell your starting equipment for full gold value. |

RE: newbie questions | ||

I totally agree about 1st level not being able to afford a trained war horse. I'm not trying to argue my way into a free war horse just get it right in my head.
Thanx again folks! GRed |

not for resale at character creation, basically we are saying you don't have to start out with that equipment (makes being a Ebou Dari really nice when you sell back that masterwork thieve set.)

Heh yeah its a regular horse no special training to go against its instincts. And for the resale value alone you dont start with a war horse.
And I wouldnt think the standard army would have war horses excepting the cavalry and the nobles. |

Re: newbie questions | ||

A very high percentage of the Borderland armies are cavalry, though, I think.
Anyway Nymph, when was it decided that starting equipment could be sold back at full value? I don't remember hearing about that. |

Re: newbie questions | ||

you know it was before rulings when I first made my character sheet. I think GM Breiby or Snowlocke decided that, but Aagon might know more than me. I know that has been the trend. If you are against it or want to make it official then you might want to bring it up in the GM area. It could always be a case by case situation with each GM. In that case you'd need to talk to your GM when you made a character about your starting wealth and equipment.
Each GM has their own opinion about a HUGE variety of things. Like this one there are alot of unspoken rules out there that need to be identified and either refuted or solidified. Nymph |

Welcome GR
I have never heard about selling back starting equipment but then some things probably were done like that back when the board started - it's really a matter for the GM to decide. Some people do use the chat room to chat (what a surprise!) but for me at least it always screws up sooner or later and tends to crash my comp. Many of us use MSN Messenger, it's good for convos with your GM and fellow players, and I can vouch for it as a first-rate way to make friends as well Idris |

Yeah, I think each GM can deal with the equipment issue individually.
I also suggest MSN, quite a few of the members here chat regularly. Some of the GMs have their addresses listed in GM contact info. |
